The WorldSkills 2019 are over and the participants have given everything. As the 45th World Championship of Skills comes to an end, Team Germany finishes at 11th place. A total of 60 countries took part in the competition. The young German talents managed to climb upin the team ranking by 17 places compared to the last WorldSkills.
The 39 young specialists from Germany achieved impressive performances in 34 disciplines: "Not only the determination and the great talent of the participants impressed me, but also the team spirit within the German team. The team spirit was impressive," reports Ingeborg Mell, project manager at CWS and WorldSkills supervisor. The award ceremony took place on 27th August in the Kazan Arena. As a presenter partner, CWS was on site and also provided the participants with the appropriate work clothing.
There was reason to cheer for tiler Janis Gentner, among others. The young talent from Dewangen won the gold medal in his discipline and was also awarded the "Best of Nation" medal as best German participant with. Carpenter Alexander Bruns from Bad Dürkheim was also thrilled about receiving a gold medal at the closing ceremony. In the Skills Reinforced Concrete, Robot Systems Integration and Industry 4.0 three participants from Team Germany were awarded a bronze medal each. Five participants from the German team narrowly missed out on a place on the podium. In addition, the German team won 19 medals of excellence. These are presented to participants who miss the winner's podium and score more than 700 points.
CWS congratulates Team Germany on this great performance and results and is looking forward to the next EuroSkills 2020 in Graz and the WorldSkills 2021 in Shanghai.
