Electroacoustic system - consulting, installation & maintenance

Electro-acoustic systems are used for voice alerting of large crowds. In this way, concrete warnings and instructions for evacuation in the event of danger can also be broadcast in several languages or in stages, depending on the danger zone. Depending on the type of system, the PA system can also be connected to the fire alarm system. Stored as well as live announcements can be played out.

Components of an electroacoustic system

There are defined quality and safety standards for each type of electroacoustic system. Each electroacoustic system has a voice alarm control unit and several loudspeakers to ensure good sound reinforcement even with various room configurations. Electroacoustic system are equipped with an emergency power supply or uninterruptible power supply (UPS) if they have to be operable in case of power failure. An impedance monitoring system cyclically checks the individual loudspeaker circuits.

System types of electroacoustic systems

  • Voice alarm system: If it is specified that the voice alarm system must be coupled with the fire alarm system as a hazard detection system, this is called a voice alarm system. In the event of fire, the voice alarm system is controlled by the fire alarm system and corresponding announcements are played out. Specifications are regulated in DIN VDE 0833.
  • Electroacoustic emergency warning system: If, for evacuation purposes, a voice alarm system is required as a hazard detection system (without being connected to a fire alarm system), this is called an electroacoustic emergency warning system. This system can be triggered by a safety control centre or a permanently manned centre. Specifications are regulated in VDE 0828 and DIN EN 50849.

Areas of application of electroacoustic system

The fire protection concept specifies whether a voice alarm is required. Electroacoustic system are used where there are many people in one place, including

  • Public buildings and hotels
  • Conference centres, event venues and exhibition halls
  • Shopping centres, shops and supermarkets
  • Airports and railway stations
  • Sports facilities
  • Schools

An electro-acoustic system can also be used as a public address system, e.g. for general announcements or background music, if voice alerting is ensured in case of danger.

Maintenance and inspection of electroacoustic system

Electroacoustic systems according to VDE 0833 (applies to voice alarm systems) must be maintained at least once a year by a competent person. In addition, an inspection must be carried out at least once a quarter.

All-round carefree package: We analyse the local conditions, plan, install and maintain the respective electroacoustic system (incl. approval with the responsible authorities). We are also happy to install acoustic and visual signalling devices, e.g. loudspeakers or amplifiers. With a maintenance contract from CWS, we carry out the maintenance of the voice alarm system on time. Request a quote now.

Advantages

  • Automatic playback option of targeted evacuation instructions in case of fire detection

Sustainability

Manual or automatic announcements in the event of danger allow evacuations to be carried out efficiently and thus protect people.
