Fire protection door - advice, installation & maintenance
Fire protection gates close automatically in case of fire and retain fire and smoke for 30, 60, 90, 120 or 180 minutes even with very large gate openings. This means that escape and rescue routes remain usable in an emergency and those present can leave the building safely. Fire protection gates are installed in the masonry, concrete, or drywall. In everyday use, the fire protection gate can be opened or closed electrically, manually or by means of an electromagnet. In case of fire, the power supply to the electromagnets is interrupted via the fire alarm system or autarkic smoke detector. Thus, the fire protection gates close immediately and independently using closing weights.
Fire protection gates are particularly suitable for commercial buildings, warehouses, underground car parks, production plants and airports. In addition, they are often used in hospitals with large areas and a high frequency of people who need to be protected from smoke gases in an emergency.
Fire protection gates are available in the following fire resistance classes:
- T30: fire retardant
- T60: highly fire retardant
- T90: fire resistant
- T120: highly fire resistant
- T180: highest fire resistance
If the fire protection gates are used in escape and rescue routes, the gates must be equipped with a wicket door. Optionally, they can be fitted with fire protection glazing (in the wicket door) to provide light transmission. Fire protection gates are made of galvanised sheet steel as standard, but are also optionally available in stainless steel, with RAL colours.
The fire protection gates comply with the standard DIN 4102 and have building approval from DIBt (German Institute for Building Technology). The fire protection gates are available according to your requirements as part of the building authority approval. In addition, 1-leaf, 2-leaf, and telescopic gate variants (optional: barrier-free wicket doors) are available.
Maintenance of fire doors: The fire protection gates must be subjected to a safety inspection and maintenance by an expert every twelve months.CWS has an extensive selection of fire protection gates approved by the building authorities. Various manufacturers also train our service technicians. We offer you an all-round carefree package consisting of consultation, installation, and regular maintenance of fire protection gates.
