Fire protection door - advice, installation & maintenance

Fire doors close automatically in the event of a fire and hold back fire and smoke for 30, 60, 90 or 120 minutes, even with very large wall openings. This means that escape and rescue routes remain usable in an emergency and people present can leave the building safely. A fire door is installed in masonry, concrete or drywall.

In everyday use, the fire door can be opened electrically or manually and remains open by means of an electromagnet. In case of fire, the power supply to the electromagnets is interrupted via the fire alarm system, stand-alone smoke detectors or a manual release button. Thus, a fire protection door closes immediately and independently by means of closing weights.

Fire doors are particularly suitable for commercial buildings, warehouses, underground garages, production facilities and airports. They are also frequently used in hospitals with large areas and a high number of people who need to be protected from smoke gases in the event of an emergency.

Fire doors are available in the following fire resistance classes:

  • T30: fire-retardant
  • T60: highly fire-retardant
  • T90: fire-resistant
  • T120: highly fire resistant

When used in escape and rescue routes, the door must be equipped with a wicket door. Optionally, they are translucent due to fire protection glazing (in the wicket door). Fire doors are available as standard in galvanised sheet steel and optionally in stainless steel, with paintwork in RAL colours. They also comply with DIN 4102 and have building authority approval from the DIBt (German Institute for Building Technology).

The fire protection doors are available according to your individual requirements within the scope of the building authority approval. In addition, 1-leaf, 2-leaf and telescopic door variants (optional: threshold-free wicket doors) are available.
