The use of asbestos has been banned since 1993, except for demolition, remediation and maintenance (ASI) work. Buildings constructed before 1989 may still have a variety of pollutants such as asbestos, PCBs and PAHs in the materials used at that time. If these contaminants remain undetected in the building, it can lead to significant health risks and harm to humans. If pollutants are detected, for example, professional asbestos abatement must be performed.

Asbestos abatement for fire dampers

Fire dampers containing asbestos may have been installed in buildings built before 1989. These do not have to be replaced directly, but asbestos abatement is necessary.

Asbestos abatement procedure

1. review of building documents and an on-site inspection to identify asbestos in all rooms of the building in question and collection of samples
2. laboratory analysis of the samples
3. determination of exact health and legal standards (including cost estimate) for asbestos removal and disposal
4. registration and execution of the asbestos removal under all necessary safety precautions
