In July 2023, the new DIN 14462 was published under the following title:
DIN 14462:2023-07
Planning, installation, operation and maintenance of wall hydrant systems, above-ground and underground hydrant systems as well as "dry" extinguishing water systems.
Therefore, the working committee NA 031-03-05 AA "Systems for fire water supply including wall hydrants" in the DIN Standards Committee for Fire Services (FNFW) has revised the content of DIN 14462 and adapted it to the state of the art.
DIN 14462:2023-07 at a glance
In the course of updating DIN 14462, essential topics were partly redefined and specified. These include, among others:
- Required operating times
- Requirements for installation rooms (LWT - extinguishing water centres)
- Required drainage systems
- Special requirements for fittings, pipelines and their fastenings
- Design and installation of aerators and deaerators as well as pressure-reducing devices
- Use of pipe trace heating systems
- Specifications with regard to the quantities of extinguishing water to be provided
- Requirements for suitable drainage systems
These specifications are supplemented, among other things, by special requirements for the usable volume of containers and the design of external water feeds. In addition, the new DIN 14462:2023-07 defines further requirements for pressure boosting systems, redundancy requirements and the power supply of electrical components.
