The safety of employees and systems is a top priority in every company. Fire assistants play a central role in this, as they are specially trained employees who take important measures in an emergency to protect human life and minimise property damage.
Tasks of a fire assistant in the company
The tasks of a fire assistant include basic measures such as recognising and fighting fires, assisting with evacuations and communicating with emergency services. These tasks are varied and require specific knowledge and practical training.
You can find a detailed description of the tasks of a firefighter in the following blog article.
Legal obligations of the employer
According to the Occupational Health and Safety Act (§ 10) and the Technical Rules for Workplaces (ASR A2.2), the employer is obliged to provide a sufficient number of fire safety assistants.
The exact number depends on various factors such as the fire risk. In companies with an average fire risk, at least 5% of employees are generally required as fire assistants.
Fire assistant training
Firefighter training is essential in order to be able to react correctly and calmly in an emergency. We offer training courses throughout Germany that include both theoretical and practical elements. The training courses can be held either at our branches or directly at your premises.
Our training courses consist of
- Theory: teaching the basics of fire protection, the different classes of fire, the function and handling of fire extinguishers as well as evacuation and communication measures in the event of a fire.
- Practice: In the practical part, participants have the opportunity to directly apply what they have learnt. Particularly important is the practical extinguishing exercise on the fire trainer, in which the fire assistants learn how to use fire extinguishers under realistic conditions.
