Passion for fire safety
Today we're introducing Joachim. His life is closely connected to fire protection, and he successfully lives out his passion both professionally and privately.
For Joachim, it seems to be a 👨👩👦👦 family tradition to get involved with the volunteer fire department. His father took him and his brother to the fire department, and now Joachim has also introduced his son to the fire department. "Even as a child, I thought the solidarity in the fire department was so great. And for me, the fire department is not a club, but an institution," Joachim tells us right at the start of our conversation.
Mutual benefit for job and volunteer fire department
Joachim is the man for the ♨️ smoke and heat extraction area (SHEV) for us, he carries out installation, maintenance and repair work. He is also well versed in the area of 💧 firefighting water technology. "I see the use of fire protection products as a firefighter. An SHEV, for example, is so important for the fire department and simply makes it easier to keep the smoke out of the building. If it doesn't work, it's much more difficult for me as a firefighter," says Joachim, adding, "Conversely, when I was in the fire department, I didn't think about basic extinguishing performance, for example how many hydrants or fire extinguishers there had to be in a building of X square meters. I only became aware of this when I started working as a service technician at CWS Fire Safety."
From gas and water fitter to fire protection professional
Joachim completed an apprenticeship as a gas and water fitter and has been with us for 2️⃣4️⃣years. He can use the training for fire protection trades for his job as well as for his voluntary work, which he finds "practical". When asked what other benefits he can get from both areas, he replied: "The fire brigade gave me a good understanding of people and teamwork is extremely important, I also use that at CWS Fire Safety." 👍
