Monique – Team Lead in Sales Support
Monique has been part of CWS Fire Safety for over two years. Until the end of 2024, she worked as a sales support consultant, and since 2025 she has taken on the role of team lead for sales support. Today, she shares her story and shows that developments at CWS Fire Safety can happen very quickly when motivation and performance are right.
Tasks of a team lead in sales support
The organisational and administrative support of sales is the central task of a sales support team. The activities of a team lead in sales support are very varied. They include:
- Creating reports
- Writing processes
- Maintaining supplier portals
- Writing offers for key account managers
- Carrying out cold calling
- Leading team members
The path from retail to fire protection

Monique completed her training as a retail saleswoman and then worked in the food industry, where she quickly rose to become a deputy store manager. After several years in retail, the current team leader decided to take on a new challenge. She found her way to CWS Fire Safety through the employee referral programme, thanks to a friend and current colleague. ‘I was *friendly pressured* and couldn't really say no,’ says the team leader with a smile, explaining her decision to switch to fire safety.
The move from retail to the fire protection industry and the accompanying change from the branch to the office took some getting used to for Monique at first. Despite her previous professional experience, it was a noticeable change for her. True to the motto ‘learning by doing’, the team leader quickly found her feet in her new role and has been an integral part of CWS Fire Safety ever since.
Further development to team lead
In autumn 2024, Monique faced an important decision: two new, attractive positions opened up within CWS Fire Safety. The choice was anything but easy for her, as both positions offered exciting challenges and opportunities for development. After careful consideration, Monique finally decided to take on the position of team leader. She is still happy with her decision today: ‘It was exactly the right move. My potential was nurtured and I received a lot of support within the company.’ The team leader has grown into her new position and is coping well with the additional personnel responsibility. ‘Interpersonal relationships have become even more important. Communication within our team is a high priority.’
Practical application & tips for future team leads
Due to maintenance backlogs, the team leader moved to the Berlin-West branch for a week to support her colleagues with quotation processing. During this time, Monique had the opportunity to accompany the maintenance of a smoke and exhaust system on the roof of the German Opera in Berlin. In addition to gaining interesting insights into the work of service technicians, the view from the roof of the opera house was a nice change from everyday office life.
When asked if she has any tips for future team leaders, Monique says: ‘You should be open to change and willing to seize opportunities. At CWS Fire Safety, rapid and sustainable development is possible.’
