A swing door operator is a mechanical system to automate the opening and closing of doors. An automatic swing door drive thus moves a door gently and in a controlled manner by means of sensors. This results in more comfort and, above all, accessibility.
How does a swing door operator work?
Automatic swing doors have a drive unit, an electrical control and several sensors. If the latter detect the movement of a person, they control the drive unit via the electrical control. In this way, the door opens for a certain period of time before it is closed again by the previously tensioned closing springs. In this process, the closing of the door is additionally damped. There are also overhead and underfloor drives. The latter offer the advantage that the swing door drive is installed invisibly below the door in the floor.
Good to know: Automatic swing doors always have a safety device that stops the opening or closing process if there are people or objects in the door's movement range.
