The safety of employees and customers is the top priority in every company. This is ensured by a wide range of safety and fire protection equipment designed to detect hazards at an early stage and take appropriate protective measures. Hazard detection systems play a crucial role in this process. But:
- What is a hazard detection system?
and - What alarm systems are there?
We answer these questions in the following article!

What is a hazard alarm system?
A hazard alarm system (HAS) is a system designed to detect potential hazards or emergencies and trigger appropriate warnings or notifications. These systems are designed to protect lives, minimize property damage and enable a rapid response to critical situations.
A typical hazard alarm system consists of a variety of sensors, manual switches and monitoring devices that can detect different types of hazards. These include smoke detectors or heat detectors to detect fires, motion detectors to monitor unauthorized access and many other sensors that specialize in different sources of danger. As soon as a sensor detects a potential hazard, the hazard alarm system triggers an alarm that notifies people present in the building and, if necessary, other emergency services (e.g. the fire department in the event of a fire).

What hazard alarm systems are there?
Hazard alarm systems are extremely versatile and can be customized according to a site's specific requirements and risks. Here are some common types of hazard alarm systems:
Fire alarm systems (FAS):
These systems detect smoke, heat or other signs of fire and immediately trigger an alarm. They are crucial for fire protection in buildings and facilities of all kinds.

Burglar alarm systems (EMA):
Intruder alarm systems specialize in detecting unauthorized intruders and triggering alarms. They often include motion detectors, door and window sensors and glass break detectors.

Electroacoustic systems (ELA systems):
PA systems are often used in public buildings such as schools, shopping centers and office complexes. They are not only used to raise the alarm in an emergency, but also to announce warnings or instructions via loudspeakers. This allows evacuation measures to be coordinated more effectively.

Home and fire warning systems:
These systems offer comprehensive protection for residential and smaller commercial buildings. They include functions for early fire detection and alerting without connection to the fire department. They therefore initially only alert the people present in the building to a hazardous situation.
