What is structural fire protection?

Structural fire protection is one of the three pillars of preventive fire protection and, together with the other pillars, contributes significantly to the safety of people, property and the environment in the event of a fire.

Structural fire protection already plays a central role in the planning and refurbishment of a building. Its aim is to limit fires to certain fire compartments, ensure safe escape routes and make it easier for the fire brigade to extinguish fires.

What is structural fire protection?

Structural fire protection includes, in particular, measures that prevent a fire from spreading across different fire compartments. This includes sealing openings in room-enclosing components with fire resistance using fire dampers, fire bulkheads, fire protection panelling and fire protection ducts.
