Above-ground hydrant - advice, installation & maintenance
A pillar hydrant is a permanently installed above-ground fitting used for the withdrawal of extinguishing water. The pillar hydrant has various outlets (A, B or C) based on several couplings and is only used by the fire brigade. Pillar hydrants are generally used in city centres or pedestrian zones.
CWS offers different variants of pillar hydrants, e.g. with or without predetermined breaking point and drop jacket hydrant (nominal widths DN 80 and DN 100, component operating pressure 16 bar).
Pillar hydrants are available with the following connections:
- Flange connection
- Sleeve connection
- Tip end connection
Maintenance of above-ground hydrants: At least once a year, the pillar hydrant must be maintained by a competent person. In addition, the fire protection concept, as well as legal principles, regulations and guidelines, must be taken into account when planning hydrants and fire-fighting water systems.
