Wall hydrant type F - for self-help and for the fire brigade
A wall hydrant type F is equipped with a reel and a dimensionally stable hose, so that it is just as easy for laymen to operate as a garden hose. In addition, there is the option of connecting fire brigade pressure hoses quickly and easily.
Important: Compulsory fire-fighting water transfer points
A direct connection of a type F wall hydrant to the drinking water supply is not permitted. As a result, so-called extinguishing water transfer points in the form of pressure boosting systems as well as filling and emptying stations. This also applies to existing extinguishing systems!
Wall hydrant for "trained personnel
A special form of wall hydrant is the one with flat hoses. In principle, these can also be operated by anyone, but they require special training in which the personnel are instructed in the special handling of these devices.
Drinking water installation with wall hydrant type S - "S" stands for self-help
The wall hydrant type S can be used wherever the fire brigade uses alternative deployment tactics. These devices are used by the layman for the initial extinguishing of incipient fires. Again, they are as easy to use as a garden hose, yet provide an almost "unlimited" amount of extinguishing water. The advantage of these wall hydrants is that, due to the amount of water required, an additional extinguishing water transfer point is usually not necessary. Direct integration into the drinking water installation is possible. Thus, in addition to their efficiency, installations of this type are very economical.
Regulations for "wet" extinguishing systems or for wall hydrant systems:
- DIN 14462: Extinguishing water facilities - Planning, installation, operation and maintenance of wall hydrant systems as well as systems with above-ground and underground hydrants.
- DIN 1988-600: Technical rules for drinking water installations - Part 600: Drinking water installations in connection with fire extinguishing and fire protection systems
- Consideration of regional or object-specific requirements
