CO2 fire extinguishers

A CO₂ fire extinguisher (also known as a carbon dioxide fire extinguisher) uses carbon dioxide to extinguish class B fires quickly, reliably, and without leaving any residue. It is therefore suitable for liquids or substances that become liquid, such as paints, tar, gasoline, or plastics. Thanks to its residue-free effect, the CO₂ hand-held fire extinguisher is preferred for use in sensitive areas – such as laboratories, electrical systems, computer and server rooms, clean rooms, or switch cabinets.

Important: CO₂ fire extinguishers are not suitable for fires in fire classes A (solid materials) or D (metals).

Regular maintenance of CO₂ fire extinguishers is required by law and must be carried out at least every two years in accordance with DIN 14406. Safety instructions for using CO₂ fire extinguishers

A CO₂ fire extinguisher displaces oxygen and may only be used in sufficiently large rooms. For each kilogram of extinguishing agent, a room area of at least 5.5 m² with a room height of 2 m must be available. In addition, employees must be instructed. We also recommend including CO₂ extinguishers in the general risk assessment.
