Dreieich, 25 September 2024 – CWS Hygiene and CWS Workwear celebrate the launch of their joint Responsibility Report 2023/24. The report showcases the companies’ measures towards their responsibility for their operations and how these affect people, society and the planet. Responsibility is at the heart of their business concepts, and they strive for a circular economy that makes a positive impact on the environment.
CWS Hygiene has set itself the target of reducing its CO2 emissions by 50% by 2030 (with 2021 as the base year).
Circularity and innovation at the heart of CWS Hygiene's sustainability strategy
“Sustainability is a guiding principle for our business. Circularity has been at the heart of our business model since the company was founded 70 years ago. We are constantly improving to save resources, reduce emissions and help our customers become more sustainable. I am pleased that this year's report allows us to transparently show how we are working towards a more sustainable future," says Gatien Gillon, CEO CWS Hygiene.
CWS Hygiene’s approach to circularity focuses on three key areas: what enters the cycle, how it is operated, and how the cycle is ultimately closed. The company implements measures across all aspects of its value chain and material cycles to meet sustainability targets. These efforts include sustainable procurement practices, energy monitoring systems, the use of photovoltaics, heat recovery technologies, or waste reduction initiatives.
"We have always had good initiatives to extend the lifetime of our products. With our newly opened refurbishment centres, we have now reached the next level. Two sites in Germany and Croatia have started refurbishing our dispensers, with more centres to follow. We refurbish our products to such a high standard that they are in an equally good condition as new dispensers and we have already equipped some of our customers with these circular dispensers", says Anja Hage, Chief Strategy and Transformation Officer.
Joint commitment to sustainable and responsible business across Europe
CWS Hygiene and CWS Workwear operate in 15 countries across Europe. Their measures focus on redesigning daily practices and continuously improving operations. The overarching goal is to save resources, reduce water usage, and shrink the carbon footprint while ensuring transparency and fairness across the entire supply and value chain.
