Sustainability is already an essential part of the company's purpose: together with around 11,000 employees, the company is working for a healthier and safer tomorrow. Therefore, it is a matter of course that CWS also participates in the "Earth Hour" initiated by WWF.

"Even in these difficult times, we must not ignore the global challenges of resource scarcity and environmental pollution. The climate crisis remains a pressing issue, the effects of which are being felt around the world and continue to intensify. As a provider of sustainable reusable solutions, we want to make a contribution to sustainable business. We call this principle of action "Think Circular", says Maren Otte, Group Director Corporate Communications and Corporate Sustainability. "We think in cycles and follow the logical three-step of reduce, reuse and recycle wherever possible. Turning off the lights for an hour is a small but important sign."

The "Earth Hour" is intended to help the whole world set an example for climate protection and a living planet. In Germany, the lights are to be switched off for one hour every year on 26 March at 8:30 p.m.; participation is voluntary. Companies and private individuals can take part in this action. Earth Hour is a small, symbolic action that can make a difference on a mass scale. It has been organised annually by WWF since 2007.
