Meet the judges

Experts from the fields of design, fair trade and journalism form our expert jury. They will decide which designs will win the Upcycling Fashion Competition and be shown at the Frankfurt Fashion Lounge fashion show of CWS Workwear in summer. Design enthusiasts can still apply until April 15 to develop new designs from discarded CWS workwear.

Daniel Kroh has been a designer in Berlin since 2006. He is a trained men's tailor and fashion designer dedicated to upcycling with his company. His material is discarded CWS workwear, which he deconstructs, fillets and turns into high-quality fashion, interior design and accessories. 

Oxana Jemeljanow is an upcycling designer for the young brand Jo Fashion, with which she creates urban fashion from work clothes. She also works as Team Lead Product Performance at CWS Workwear and is supported by the company in her design activities.

Iris-Dorothee Rau worked as a tailor, pattern cutter and cut and design director in the fashion industry before starting as a designer at CWS Workwear, then boco, 25 years ago. Today, she designs workwear for the CWS range as well as customized CI collections.

Rosa Buchacher  is responsible for the Cotton & Textile division at Fairtrade Germany. She is committed to increasing the use of Fairtrade cotton and cotton from the commodity model in textile companies. The Fairtrade standards are intended to improve working conditions in textile companies. 

Pia Schulz has a degree in journalism. She works as a freelance journalist for FashionUnited, one of the leading fashion platforms. There she writes about fashion trends, interviews new labels and designers and reports on current developments in the industry. In doing so, the topics of sustainability and responsible action are particularly close to her heart.
