Duisburg, 15 June 2021 – CWS Fire Safety GmbH, the CWS Group company specializing in preventive fire protection, is entering into a strategic partnership with the internationally leading Danish manufacturer of low-pressure water mist extinguishing systems, VID Fire-Kill ApS. The cooperation cooperation was signed on June 10, 2021. The common goal is to make fire protection with water mist extinguishing systems more sustainable, to obtain VdS approval and to be able to offer customized solutions. A seal of VdS distinguishes safe products and is an important criterion in the security market. Water mist extinguishing systems are twice sustainable: The water used is finely atomised and can thus protect a larger area with less water on the one hand and on the other hand less damage is caused by the extinguishing water used in the event of a fire.

Experts protecting assets in a sustainable way

"We are pleased that we were able to win VID as a strategic partner and that we will now jointly go the way to VdS approval", says Dipl.-Ing. Peter Clauss, Leading Manager Plant Engineering at CWS Fire Safety. „We work together with an accredited fire laboratory and can carry out individual fire tests there. Therefore, we can offer very individual solutions to our customers. We plan and install the water mist extinguishing system, prepare everything for successful acceptance and also carry out regular maintenance with our competence center for water mist extinguishing systems in Cloppenburg.“ VID CEO Alex Palle is also pleased: “We already have worldwide approvals. In addition, getting the VdS approval is an important goal for us in order to prove the intrinsic value of our system. "

CWS Fire Safety has been investing in auxiliary water extinguishing systems for a long time. Previously, CWS Fire Safety acquired the companies Phoenix Fire Protect Development in Emstek / Cloppenburg and MARANG Brandschutz & Technologie GmbH in Wildau / Berlin. In addition to the previous expert knowledge on high-pressure water mist extinguishing systems, this cooperation adds further knowledge on low-pressure water mist extinguishing systems.

Water mist protects twice: material assets and water as a resource

Water mist extinguishing systems are particularly sustainable because small amounts of water are required. The water droplets from water mist extinguishing systems are just 10 to 1000 µm, sprinkler systems in return spray water droplets from 1500 to 5000 µm. Thus, water mist extinguishing systems consume less water with the same or sometimes even better extinguishing effect. Specially developed nozzles and sprinklers atomize the water so finely that a water mist is created. Compared to classic sprinkler systems, the water surface increases by 1600 times and fires are extinguished across the board. The resulting cooling and sticking effect ensures effective firefighting with reduced use of extinguishing water. Due to the lower use of water, keeping the extinguishing water damage and downtime to a minimum. Low-pressure water mist extinguishing systems are primarily used where the fire can spread very quickly, e.g. in hospitals, offices, restaurants and hotels, theaters or in industry. Compared to high-pressure water mist extinguishing systems, the low-pressure technology developed by VID offers considerable technological advantages. The water mist extinguishing systems from VID are recognized by fire tests and proof of effectiveness by independent, accredited certification bodies (FM, DnV) in accordance with DIN EN 14972.

CWS distributes and installs the low-pressure water mist extinguishing systems exclusively in Germany for all classes of buildings, such as garages, office buildings or industrial halls. The first project has already started. In Leipzig, the art and commercial courtyards are equipped with the low-pressure water mist extinguishing system from CWS.
