Fire protection ducts ensure safe cladding of ventilation ducts, installation ducts and electrical ducts and thus protect escape and rescue routes. They prevent the spread of cable fires and, in the event of a fire, ensure the functionality of crucial ventilation systems or electrical systems such as e.g. B. Emergency power supply. In this way, fire protection ducts actively contribute to the protection of people, animals and buildings. 

Specifications for fire protection ducts

Fire protection ducts are prescribed for certain structural facilities by the building permit and the fire protection concept. The respective model administrative regulations for technical building regulations (MVV-TB) or the cable system guidelines (LAR) determine the specifications. Depending on the stress or the protection goal, a type of fire protection channel is determined.

Types of fire protection ducts

• Ventilation duct (L-duct): The ventilation duct cladding protects ventilation systems and ventilation ducts in the building, e.g. B. smoke outlets or kitchen exhaust air ducts. This fire protection duct is available in the fire resistance classes L30 and L90.
• Installation duct (I-duct): The installation duct withstands fire from both inside and outside and thus protects electrical cables that are routed through such a fire protection duct or prevents the spread of a fire if your fire breaks out inside the installation duct. It also prevents fire, smoke or toxic gases from spreading to other rooms. This fire protection duct is available in fire resistance classes I30 and I90.
• Electrical duct (E-duct): The lines of important electrical systems are protected from fire from the outside by the special material properties. Electrical installations worth protecting include e.g. B. fire alarm systems, fire brigade lifts, safety lighting as well as emergency power systems. This fire protection duct is available in fire resistance classes E30 and E90.
