7.9 billion litres of clean water for developing countries

A great milestone on World Water Day

Since its establishment, the Made Blue Foundation made 7.9 billion litres of clean water available in developing countries. The foundation revealed this on today's World Water Day. CWS is proud to contribute to this achievement as a partner. For us, clean water matters. Did you know that it's a daily task for one out of ten people in the world to get access to clean water? According to Made Blue, this affects around 6.3 billion people worldwide.

Last year, the foundation donated 1.6 billion litres of clean water to developing countries.

Clean water is essential

In developing countries, women and children in particular spend a lot of time collecting water, which is often not drinkable and unclean. An estimated 485,000 people die every year because of contaminated drinking water and poor sanitation. That is more than 1,300 people per day. Another problem caused by the daily need to get clean water: children cannot go to school and remain uneducated.

The goal of our partnership with the Made Blue Foundation therefore is providing clean drinking water and hygiene for all. Pure water is vital. What is particularly critical about the lack of water supply is that the coronavirus, for example, can keep spreading in slums. People need clean water to maintain good hygiene.

"We are very happy about the cooperation with CWS. Not only does it enable us to make clean water available in developing countries. At the same time CWS' hygiene solutions help to avoid unnecessary clean water consumption in our own country."
