10 billion litres of clean water for developing countries

A great milestone on World Water Day

Since its founding in 2014, the Made Blue Foundation has made 10.022.178.235 liters (over 10 billion) of clean water available in developing countries. The foundation announced this today on World Water Day. CWS is proud to contribute to this achievement as a partner. Clean water is important to us, but did you know that for one in ten people in the world, getting access to clean water is a daily task? Last year, Made Blue's counter stood at 7.9 billion liters.

In 2021, 2.1 billion liters of clean water were donated to developing countries. .

Clean water is of vital importance

In developing countries, women and children in particular spend a lot of time collecting water. This water is often polluted. Because of the time they spend on this, they cannot work or go to school.  An estimated 485,000 people die each year as a result of polluted drinking water and poor sanitation. That's more than 1,300 people a day.

Clean water is of vital importance, but at the moment it is even more important than ever. Because the coronavirus is still spreading through the slums. And you need clean water for good hand hygiene. The goal of our partnership with the Made Blue Foundation is therefore clean (drinking) water & hygiene for everyone.

Frank van der Tang, Made Blue:

"We are very happy with the cooperation with CWS. Not only does this allow us to realize clean water in developing countries, but at the same time CWS' solutions prevent unnecessary consumption of clean water in our own country."
