266 tons in 2022

In 2022, CWS Workwear purchased 266 tons of Fairtrade cotton for various collections. Fairtrade guarantees producers not only fair prices for the cotton, but also an additional Fairtrade premium that cotton farmers can use for community projects such as schools. Due to the high volume of Fairtrade cotton purchased, CWS Workwear supports producers with a premium of 35,077 euros.

CWS' commitment to Fairtrade cotton

CWS Workwear has already been sourcing Fairtrade cotton for its workwear since 2016. In the meantime, other sustainable materials are also being used. By 2025, the share of sustainable fabric in the collections offered is to be 90%.

CWS workwear made from Fairtrade cotton bears a Fairtrade seal. This label indicates that the material comes from fairly produced and traded cotton. Garments made from a cotton-polyester combination can also carry this seal. Currently, the workwear service provider offers numerous workwear collections, but also PPE with Fairtrade cotton.

The impact of the Fairtrade premium

The Fairtrade premium is a fixed amount added to the selling price of the cotton. This premium is used to support social, ecological or economic projects. The farming families or workers on the plantations decide together in a democratic process which projects are eligible. The more Fairtrade cotton is traded, the higher the premium and the more projects can be supported.

Fairtrade certificate for customers

Customers who use Fairtrade workwear from CWS Workwear can receive a Fairtrade certificate on request. This certifies the company's sustainable commitment and can be used to improve its own sustainability record.

Supported projects

The "Clean and Green in India" project focuses on promoting clean villages and measures to combat climate change and the loss of biodiversity. The goal is to protect health and the ecosystem from pollution caused by watercourses and waste. The project also helps communities cope with the challenges of rainfall, water scarcity and low crop yields.

The Clean and Green Project in India is a comprehensive initiative to promote clean and green villages, improve health and hygiene in schools and villages, and provide business development training to generate income.
