Was bedeuten die großen Buchstaben wie A, B oder C auf einem Feuerlöscher?

Der Buchstabe zeigt die Brandklasse, für den der Feuerlöscher gedacht ist. Falls mehrere Buchstaben dargestellt sind, ist das Gerät entsprechend für mehrere Brandklassen zugelassen. A = Feste, nicht schmelzende Stoffe wie Holz, Textilien, Papier und Kohle B = Flüssige, schmelzende feste Stoffe wie Benzin, Öle und Wachse C = Gasförmige, auch unter Druck stehende Stoffe wie Propan, Butan, Acetylen, Erdgas und Methan D = Brennbare Metalle wie Aluminium, Magnesium und Natrium F = Speiseöle, wie auch pflanzliche oder tierische Fette

Wann müssen Feuerlöscher ausgetauscht werden?

Die Lebensdauer eines Aufladefeuerlöschers ohne Dauerdruck beträgt etwa 20 bis 25 Jahre. Allerdings ist dies abhängig vom Gerätehersteller und Typ.

Kann ich auch einen Feuerlöscher aus dem Baumarkt oder Discounter nutzen?

Vorsicht! Es gibt mehrere Kriterien, die bei einem Kauf berücksichtigt werden sollten. Im gewerblichen Bereich braucht jeder Feuerlöscher einen Instandhaltungsnachweis durch eine sachkundige Person. Dies ist bei einem Model aus dem Baumarkt nicht immer der Fall. In der Regel handelt es sich um Pulverlöscher. Sie verursachen meist einen sehr großen Schaden. So lässt sich Pulver in jeder kleinen Ritze nieder, egal ob in Böden, Schränken oder elektrischen Geräten. Feuerlöscher haben oft auch eine geringe Löscheineinheit (LE) und erbringen nicht die vorgeschriebene Löschleistung. Die Geräte sind meist Dauerdrucklöscher und müssen durch einen Sachverständigen alle 10 Jahre nach § 32 der Druckbehälterverordnung überprüft werden, beispielsweise durch den TÜV. This is an auxiliary quantity that compares different fire extinguishers with each other in order to calculate the extinguishing capacity and the need for equipment. Properly maintain fire extinguishers

Fire extinguisher maintenance in the commercial sector is stipulated in the regulation ASR A2.2, "Measures against fires" and requires fire extinguishers to be tested at least every two years by an expert.

What do the large letters such as A, B, or C on a fire extinguisher mean?

The letter shows the fire class for which the fire extinguisher is intended. If several letters are shown, the device is approved for several fire classes.

A = Solid, non-melting materials such as wood, textiles, paper and coal
B = Liquid, melting solid substances such as gasoline, oils and waxes
C = Gaseous substances, including those under pressure, such as propane, butane, acetylene, natural gas and methane
D = Combustible metals such as aluminium, magnesium and sodium

When do fire extinguishers have to be replaced?

The service life of a rechargeable fire extinguisher without continuous pressure is about 20 to 25 years. However, this depends on the device manufacturer and type.

Can I also use a fire extinguisher from a hardware store or discount shop?

Caution! There are several criteria that should be considered when making a purchase.

In the commercial sector, every fire extinguisher needs proof of maintenance by a competent person. This is not always the case with a model from the DIY store.
As a rule, these are powder extinguishers. They usually cause a lot of damage. Powder settles in every little crack, whether in floors, cupboards or electrical appliances.
Fire extinguishers often also have a low extinguishing unit (LE) and do not provide the prescribed extinguishing power.
The devices are usually permanent pressure extinguishers and must be inspected by an expert every 10 years according to § 32 of the Pressure Vessel Ordinance, for example by the TÜV. Expert knowledge is required here.
