Fire protection regulations - advice, creation & updating
The fire safety regulations (also called fire protection regulations) serve to protect people, buildings and the environment. It specifies measures and regulations to prevent or contain fires. The fire safety regulations are divided into Part A, Part B and Part C.
- Fire safety regulations Part A: Part A provides information on the correct behaviour in case of fire. They are addressed to all persons present in a building (e.g. employees, residents, visitors). They are posted in prominent places in the building.
- Fire Protection Regulations Part B: Part B is addressed to the employees in a building and explains concrete measures to prevent the spread of fire and smoke as well as to keep escape and rescue routes clear. The Fire Safety Regulations Part B should be presented to employees during fire safety training. It must also be handed out in written form.
- Fire Safety Regulations Part C: Part C is for all employees with special fire protection tasks (e.g. fire protection officers, fire protection assistants, first aid officers). It provides further information and instructions on organisational fire protection.
Fire safety regulations
Not every commercial building needs a fire safety code. If one is mandatory, it is required in the building permit. The fire safety regulations are subject to approval and must be coordinated with the building supervisory authority and the local fire protection service. The components of fire safety regulations are defined in DIN 14096.
Inspection of fire safety regulations
They should be checked by a competent person at least every 2 years.
